Taiwan is located of the south eastern  coast of China, and is a popular destination for ESL teachers. Taiwan is a country steeped in history but it is also a powerhouse of the Asian economies. Taiwan is home to one of the tallest buildings in the world, Taipei 101 which is a symbol for the countries economic growth and prosperity.

Taiwan features modern metropolises such as Taipei City, Kaohsiung and Taichung plus a largely unspoilt interior of mountain ranges and roaming plains. Taiwan is also well known for its food where you can find traditional Taiwanese dishes as well as favorites from many regions of China. With a thriving culture and and a long list of attractions Taiwan is a great destination for the culture buff and party animal alike.

There is a constant demand for ESL teachers in Taiwan with competitive rates of pay and good working conditions. Tax rates on salaries are low starting at 6% and in many cases accommodation or accommodation allowance and airfare (though not all) are provided. Generally you will require some form of teaching certification (such as TEFL certificate, CELTA, DELTA), however this is not always the case. Like many of the popular ESL locations you will need a degree (in any subject) to obtain a visa to teach in Taiwan.
